November is when the rivers start to freeze according to Indigenous American tradition. Other names for the November full moon are the Hunting Moon and the Freezing Moon.
When the Rivers Start to Freeze was created using collage techniques. The collage papers were printed on a gel plate with acrylic paint in greens, blues, and purple. The ice texture was created by using a stem of parsley on the gel plate, combining the blue with white. Gel plate prints add texture and depth to a work which is why I enjoy using it.
